Below are some general links to science or other educational sites that contain or lead to teaching resources and/or lesson plans. Please let me know of any really good links that you know of so that I can include them here.
Click on the links in the left hand panel in order to access the teaching resources and learning resources on this website.
A worthwhile site to visit when looking for resources. The main database of websites runs to 30,000, most of which have been reviewed and given a star rating. Do not overlook even 1 star sites - there are some real gems.
Another really worthwhile site to visit for locating useful websites.
A large collection of ready made lesson plans for most ages and topics.
A useful site for science educators with many aspects from links to issues and resources. In addition, there is the facility to make your own simple home page that you can then refer pupils to in internet lessons. This saves a lot of wasted time searching.
This is a must visit site for any science teacher. Ray Le Couteur has written some excellent programs for teachers at home and in school. For secondary teaching, there is an Sc1 mark calculator, a program on atomic structure and bonding, one on symbols and equations (the site licence for these two is very good value) plus a report writing assistant. In addition, there are useful links including some to a supply of ready made internet lessons.
A large number of downloadable worksheets.
Links, links, links!
A developing site with a good selection of resources and useful links to other science based sites. I recommend a visit sooner rather than later.
KS3
This is a definite "must visit" site when you are covering astronomy. There is a wealth of information and it is differentiated. The only problem that I have found is that pupils tend to miss the "enter the site" link initially and cannot find the sections that I have specified in the introduction to the activities.
This is a good site with plenty of materials on all aspects of astronomy
Another good site to use when covering astronomy using the internet.
KS4
Good for pupils as it is interactive. I recommend a visit to this site sooner rather than later.
A 'must visit' site with loads of information for both pupils and teachers. It is brilliant and I would recommend this for everyone's favourites folder.
KS5
